Canned Tuna Fish Casserole Recipes
One of the easiest canned tuna fish casserole recipes I have ever come across, this one lends itself to adapting depending on what you've got in your cupboard or fridge.
This recipe uses canned chicken soup, but I think mushroom soup with a few chopped mushrooms, tomato soup with a few chopped olives would go equally well.
Serve this tuna casserole with some crusty bread and a salad - it would make a really good dinner for the family. Garlic bread is nice if you like garlic - really easy to do and you can warm it up alongside the casserole.
Tuna Casserole
3 oz (75g) cooked macaroni
2 tbspns oil
1 onion - peeled and finely chopped
1 small green pepper - deseeded and finely chopped
1 oz (25g) plain flour
0.5 pint (300ml) milk
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can tuna
1 bag potato chips - crushed
Heat the oil in an ovenproof pan and fry the onion and pepper until soft.
Take the pan off the heat and then add the flour and mix well.
Return to the heat and stir well for about a minute.
Remove the pan from the heat and then stir in the milk - combine it well and then return to the heat.
Continue to stir whilst the sauce thickens.
Add the soup, tuna and macaroni.
Cook in a moderate oven for about 20 minutes - sprinkle the potato chips over and bake a further 10 minutes.
Serve with some hot crusty bread.
